The Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (“AUPO”) has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy in administering the Surgical Curriculum for Ophthalmology Residents (“SCOR”) Learning Management System website. The following discloses our information gathering and disclosure practices for https://www.auposcor.org (the “Site” or “Website”).

General Principles

We only use information collected on the Website for SCOR purposes and as otherwise set forth below.

ACCESSING, DOWNLOADING OR OTHERWISE USING THE CONTENT INDICATES THAT YOU ACCEPT AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS PRIVACY POLICY IN FULL. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THIS PRIVACY POLICY, DO NOT ACCESS, DOWNLOAD OR OTHERWISE USE THE CONTENT. You acknowledge (a) that You have read and understood this Privacy Policy; and (b) for users outside the European Union, this Privacy Policy shall have the same force and effect as a signed agreement.

The Content is operated by AUPO and can be contacted at 655 Beach St. San Francisco, CA 94109. This Privacy Policy describes the information collected through Your use of the Content, how we use it, how we share it, how we protect it, and the choices You can make about Your information. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Content shall be subject to this Privacy Policy.

If we materially change this Privacy Policy, we will update this page to reflect any changes to this Privacy Policy and notify You by email, if we have Your email address. We may collect information from You when You use the Content and when You contact or interact with us, including registering for the SCOR Learning Management System or completing AUPO surveys.

When You register for the SCOR Learning Management System, we collect Your first and last name; home or other physical address, including street name and name of city or town; email address or other online contact information, race, gender, your institution, and education/training background. The Website collects gender and race information on a voluntary basis from users who choose to provide such information.

B. Information We May Automatically Collect When You Use the Content

When You access and use the Content, we may automatically collect information about You, including Your Content browsing history, Your purchase history of AUPO products and services, Your completion of SCOR modules, and workshops, webinars, courses, and other AUPO events, Your education/training background, Your AUPO course evaluations, Your course, module, and workshop completions, and Your clicks on AUPO Content or emails from AUPO

In addition, when You access and use the Content, we may automatically collect information regarding You and Your device, including Your device’s IP address, the domain name of Your Internet service provider (“ISP”), Your location, Your mobile device information (e.g., device model and operating system version), Your page visits, and aggregated information that cannot be used to specifically identify You. Additional information collected is described in the Analytics and Cookies, Local Storage and Other Tracking Technologies sections below.

C. How We Use and Disclose the Information We Collect

We use the information we collect about You to administer the SCOR Learning Management System.

We use the information we collect about You to assess our learning modules and workshops and for other internal quality assurance purposes.

We aggregate the information we collect about You with other users of the Website, and publish and present that aggregated data. The aggregated data is de-identified, and does not identify You.

We may use the information we collect about You for several other purposes, including:

To complete transactions that You initiate;
To provide Content to You (including, but not limited to, customized Content recommendations, and sending an SMS message or other notification);
To process and respond to Your inquiries and comments;
To identify You as a user of the Content;
To enable You to provide comments and participate in questions and answers and surveys;
To contact You with information, including promotional information, that we believe will be of interest to You;
To provide relevant advertising;
To display relevant advertising across websites and mobile applications;

To improve our understanding of user and AUPO member preferences and interests;

We disclose information we collect about You to Your supervisor or program director at your educational institution.

We disclose information we collect about You to AUPO-affiliated medical societies and boards, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Ophthalmology.

We disclose aggregated data about You and other users of the Site to our industry sponsors. We also present and publish that aggregated information. This aggregated data is de-identified and does not identify You.

We may use third party service providers and business partners to perform services and functions on our behalf in connection with the Content, such as analyzing and improving Content usefulness, storing data, advertising, and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. We may disclose information about You to those third party service providers and business partners when such disclosure is necessary or appropriate for the service or function they provide.

We, along with third parties, use cookies, local storage objects, web beacons and other technologies. These technologies are used for tracking, analyzing, personalizing, and optimizing the Content.

L. AUPO Email Privacy Policy

The AUPO endeavors to protect your email address from inappropriate use. If the AUPO determines the use of your email address is of benefit to its members, the AUPO may, with the approval of its Executive Vice President, send a message to the membership on behalf of third party requestors. Members may opt-out of receiving future AUPO emails by emailing that request to aupo@aao.org and including Opt-Out on the subject line.

M. Children

Our Content is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from an individual under age 16. If You are under the age of 16, please do not submit any personal information through the Content.
